Living Life
동영상 소개
14 Although I hope to come to you soon, I am writing you these instructions so that,
15 if I am delayed, you will know how people ought to conduct themselves in God’s household, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of the truth.
16 Beyond all question, the mystery from which true godliness springs is great: He appeared in the flesh, was vindicated by the Spirit, was seen by angels, was preached among the nations, was believed on in the world, was taken up in glory.
1 The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons.
2 Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron.
3 They forbid people to marry and order them to abstain from certain foods, which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and who know the truth.
4 For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving,
5 because it is consecrated by the word of God and prayer.
Reflection
Anchored in Christ (3:14–16)
Paul reminds Timothy that his instructions are meant to establish order in the church, which belongs to God. The church is not to be rooted in human wisdom or traditions but in the life, death, resurrection, and reign of Jesus Christ. As the pillar and foundation of this truth, the church should hold up the gospel message and be grounded in it. The church is able to do this because God’s people recognize where true godliness is found. They acknowledge the incarnation of Jesus, His vindication by the Spirit, the proclamation about Him to the nations, and His ascension into glory. Jesus Christ is central to our faith, and we must be anchored in Him in order to reflect His character and serve Him well.
- Consider that the church is the pillar and foundation of the truth. Pray that God’s church would remain anchored in Christ so that His people can confidently proclaim the gospel and live it out.
Recognizing the Truth (4:1–5)
In the last days, some will abandon the faith and follow deceptive teachings. These false doctrines do not come from God but from deceitful spirits and human distortions of the truth. In order to ensure that we are not led astray, we must remain unwavering in our commitment to Christ and His Word. The best defense against false teaching is a deep grounding in Scripture. When we are well-rooted in God’s Word, we can more easily discern what aligns with the gospel and what does not. Paul reminds us that everything God created is good when received with thanksgiving and consecrated by the Word and prayer. Thus, we need to be firmly rooted in Scripture so that we can stay aligned with the truth.
- How do you recognize false teachings? Commit to reading, studying, and applying Scripture daily so that you may stand firm in the truth and not be easily deceived.
A letter to God
Lord Jesus, You are the foundation and head of the church. Help me to be grounded in Your Word so that I may reflect Your wisdom, grace, and truth. Strengthen me to remain faithful to the gospel and to confidently share it with others. In Your name I pray, amen.
